Events for: Hurst Green Singers
Hurst Green Singers is a friendly group of young and not so young singers. We perform three concerts a year, two in the summer (jointly with Shoreham Singers) and the other in December, all of which are well attended.
The Choir, which meets regularly in term time on Tuesday evenings in St. John’s Church, Hurst Green, at 8.00 for 8.15pm, is currently thriving, with some sixty members, but new members are always welcome. There are no auditions, but a willingness to learn and the ability to read music are a great advantage, although not essential.
The Choir has two major concerts a year in St John’s Church, Hurst Green, one in the summer and the second at Christmas. For the Summer Concert the Choir normally joins forces with Shoreham (Kent) Singers, and there is then a repeat performance a few weeks later in Shoreham Church as part of the Sevenoaks Festival. In recent years, the Summer Concert has been with orchestra and the Christmas Concert with organ accompaniment. Both are popular events and well supported.
2010 is a special year, being the 50th anniversary of the Choir’s formation and the 25th anniversary of Michael Barlow’s involvement as Hurst Green Singers’ choir master and conductor.
Occasionally members of the Choir are invited to sing at weddings and other events at churches and other venues in the area.
